What Is a Moonstick? | Cannibisters Rosin Joints Explained

Moonstick is our word. If you have searched it and landed on a product page with no explanation, this is the page that should have come up. Here is exactly what a Moonstick is, how it is built, and how it differs from the pre-roll next to it on the cabinet.

What Is a Moonstick Joint?

A Moonstick is an infused joint. It starts as one gram of flower, is packed with hash, painted in rosin and rolled in kief. Four things, in that order, in one joint.

That construction is the whole point. A standard pre-roll is flower and nothing else, and it burns like flower. A Moonstick carries concentrate through and around it, so it burns slower, hits harder and holds its flavour further down the joint. It is not a stronger pre-roll. It is a different object.

What Goes Into One?

  • One gram of flower — the strain sets the flavour and the effect. We roll Moonsticks per strain rather than from a house blend.
  • Hash — packed through the flower, adding body and a slower burn.
  • Rosin — solventless concentrate, pressed with heat and pressure rather than chemicals, painted onto the joint.
  • Kief — the trichome dust the joint is rolled in, which is why a Moonstick looks frosted rather than green.

Why Rosin, and Not Just a Stronger Joint?

Rosin is solventless. It is pressed out of the plant with heat and pressure, so nothing is used to strip the resin out and nothing has to be purged back out afterwards. That matters for flavour as much as anything else — the terpenes that make Granddaddy Purple taste of grape or Supercheese taste sharp and skunky survive the press, so a rosin-infused joint still tastes like its strain instead of tasting generically strong.

Which Moonsticks Do You Roll?

The line changes with what is on the cabinet, because each one is rolled around a specific strain. Recent examples give the range:

  • Afghan Kush — 100% pure indica landrace from the Hindu Kush, rich and hashy, heavily sedative.
  • Granddaddy Purple — classic indica, bold grape and berry, a heavy night-time high.
  • Supercheese — 70/30 indica-dominant, Super Skunk crossed with Cheese, pungent and body-heavy.
  • Bruce Banner — 60/40 sativa-dominant, OG Kush crossed with Strawberry Diesel, fast and cerebral.
  • Pine From Space — a 50/50 hybrid of Pineapple Mimosa and Space Runtz, sweet pineapple and pine.
  • Hawaiian Punch — sativa-dominant, bold tropical flavour, uplifting and energetic.

Alongside the single-strain Moonsticks there are three variants worth knowing: the Moonstick x2, two one-gram joints for sharing; the Ultra Strong, mixed with rosin and hashish for members who already know what they are doing; and the Big Moonstick, the oversized version built as a centrepiece rather than a solo smoke.

How Strong Is a Moonstick?

Stronger than the same strain rolled as flower alone — that is what the hash, rosin and kief are for. How much stronger depends on the strain and on the batch, so we do not publish a single figure we would have to keep qualifying.

The practical advice is the same advice we give on edibles: if you have not had one before, do not treat it like a normal joint. Take less than you think, wait, and judge from there. A Moonstick is built for members who want the concentrate experience without dabbing, and it rewards patience.

Moonstick or Pre-Roll?

Take the pre-roll when you want the strain as the grower intended it, a lighter session, or something to pass around without flattening everyone. Take the Moonstick when you want depth — a longer, slower, more layered smoke, and the flavour that survives the rosin press.

Neither is the upgrade of the other. They are two different sessions, and most members keep both on hand. If you are still deciding, our guide to pre-rolls in Cape Town covers the other half of the cabinet.

How Do I Get One?

Moonsticks are members-only, like everything else we roll. Membership is free — apply online or in person at 65 Regent Road, Sea Point — and once you are a member you can browse the live Moonstick menu on the site and order for same-day delivery across greater Cape Town, or collect at the club.

Because each one is rolled around a specific strain, the Moonstick menu moves. What is on the cabinet today is what is on the site today.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Moonstick joint?

A Moonstick is a Cannibisters infused joint: one gram of flower packed with hash, painted in rosin and rolled in kief. It burns slower and hits harder than a standard pre-roll, and it keeps the flavour of the strain it was rolled around.

What is the difference between a Moonstick and a pre-roll?

A pre-roll is flower only. A Moonstick adds hash, rosin and kief to that same gram of flower, which makes it slower-burning, stronger and more flavourful. They are different sessions rather than better and worse versions of the same thing.

What is rosin, and why is it in the joint?

Rosin is a solventless cannabis concentrate, pressed from the plant using heat and pressure rather than chemicals. Because nothing is stripped out or purged back, the strain's terpenes survive, so a rosin-infused joint still tastes like the strain rather than just tasting strong.

How strong is a Moonstick?

Stronger than the same strain rolled as flower alone, and how much stronger depends on the strain and the batch. If it is your first, treat it as you would an edible: take less than you think, wait, and judge from there.

Where can I buy a Moonstick in Cape Town?

At Cannibisters. Membership is free — apply online or in person at 65 Regent Road, Sea Point — then browse the live Moonstick menu on the site and order for same-day delivery across greater Cape Town, or collect at the club.
