Every summer, more of the people walking through our door at 65 Regent Road are visiting Cape Town for a week or two. Most of them ask the same few questions before they arrive. This is the guide we give them.
The short answer: Cannibisters is a private members' cannabis club in Sea Point, Cape Town, and visitors are welcome to join. You do not need to live in South Africa. Choose a short membership pass, such as the one-day pass, and you can browse the cabinet, relax in the lounge and order for delivery to where you are staying. The Club is open every day from 9am to midnight, and everyone who orders is a signed-in member aged 18 or over.
Can Visitors Join a Cannabis Club in Cape Town?
Yes. Cannibisters is members-only, but membership is open to adults visiting from anywhere. Most visitors start with a short pass rather than a year, because it matches the length of their trip:
- One-day pass: for a single visit or a first look at the Club.
- 30-day pass: for a longer stay, or a summer spent on the Atlantic Seaboard.
- Longer memberships: three, six and twelve months, for members who live here or come back every year.
You can see every option on the membership page.
How Do You Join Cannibisters as a Visitor?
- Create your member account. Sign up on cannibisters.com from your phone. It is the same account whether you visit in person or order online.
- Choose your pass. Add the one-day pass or the 30-day pass. If you build a basket first, checkout will offer the day pass for you.
- Visit or order. Come to 65 Regent Road, or order from wherever you are staying in Cape Town.
Every order is placed by a signed-in member. That is how a private members' club works, and it is the reason there is no guest checkout. For background on how this fits South African law, read our guide to buying cannabis legally in South Africa.
Where Can You Enjoy Cannabis in Cape Town as a Visitor?
Hotels, guesthouses and many short-stay apartments have their own rules, so check yours before you light anything. The simplest answer is the Club itself. Members can settle in at 65 Regent Road rather than hunting for somewhere suitable:
- The Hotbox: a glass-fronted booth with leather ottomans, for a short, sociable session.
- The pool table: winner stays on.
- The PlayStation lounge: PS5, a racing rig and sport on the screens.
- The coffee bar: a proper flat white while you browse the cabinet.
The Club is wheelchair-friendly, with an accessible entrance, seating, toilet and car park.
What Can You Find in the Cabinet?
The cabinet changes with the season and the harvest, so it is worth asking what has just arrived. The main formats are:
- Flower, with the full list of what is on the shelf in the strain guide.
- Pre-rolls, which suit visitors who travel light.
- Edibles, which need patience: start low and give them two hours before you take more.
- Oils, for a measured dose with no smoke at all.
If you are new to cannabis, or new to a format, tell the team at the counter. They would rather spend five minutes with you than have you guess.
Can You Get Cannabis Delivered to Your Hotel or Airbnb?
